Healing

Once, when I was still very young,
during a visit to a small community,
they said I had the gift of healing those around me.
That simply touching me would calm something within them —
something would transcend.
Word spread quickly, and they came to me
hoping that something might change.
It seemed that even the faintest possibility
would spark a light inside them.
Shy, I didn’t know what to say.
I would lower my gaze.
But something intuitive whispered to me
that it didn’t need to make sense.
I couldn’t confirm it,
but I couldn’t deny it either.
I made no promises,
but I didn’t turn away — I simply stayed.
Because something in those people would renew itself,
as if a flame were lit —
vivid,
after long nights of darkness.
It’s not hard to understand now.
It’s not hard to accept the depth of what happened.
Because healing another is not some grand miracle —
it is simply presence.
Healing is that moment
when someone feels seen and the soul exhales.
It’s when light doesn’t invade, but embraces.
It’s when silence speaks louder than the murmurs of pain.
It’s when space opens for a person to reconnect
with the sacred that was already within them.
Today I see that I simply carried a vibration —
a natural vibration of non-judgment.
One that never needed to learn
not to impose,
not to demand,
not to rush,
not to ask,
not to insist,
not to teach —
only to awaken.
Perhaps this is, after all,
my true gift:
Not to do,
but simply to be.
